Summary of the issue you are facing:
When managing multiple shares with the same or similar name its very difficult and cumbersome to figure out what share is what. My workflow is usually sharing an Output folder with a specific client. This results in many shares that show up in the “Shares” section listed simply as “Output”. When I am cleaning up shares i often have to click away from the shares to click on the folder just to see where its located at, then navigate back to shares and hope i click on the same one.
Is there some way to see the whole path of the share or maybe at least one or two directories above the name display in the shares? I can click on “details” and the full path is not displayed anywhere easily accessible, the only way i can find to see the full path is actually navigate to it, then go back to shares. this introduces many clicks just to figure out what the share actually is and is a bit frustrating due to so many clicks just to see the full path. i have to be missing something because this seems like it should be very simple to see.
Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):
- Make many separate shares with the same name, in the example above “Output”. or just make a share to anywhere
- go to the “Shares” menu on the left side bar of the files app
- try to figure out the full path to your share without clicking away from the shares
