Setting up AIO on windows 10 preliminary questions

,

I have been looking at the NC AIO docker setup for windows 10, as this is my current OS and i do get updates until next year, 2026 before i migrate to something else.

This is my home PC and i am just using NC for my own stuff.

I have had a DNS name with afraid dns for about 20 years now.

I assume its safe to say that the freedns name i have from them will work for the AIO install?

My router does NOT support dynamic dns stuff as its a router from the ISP. With this said, my ssh server using my domain name from afraid dns has worked great over the years and has worked great with my ISP.

Im hoping the AIO install is just as simple as my ssh was and what not.

second, i do not use default ports for ssh, i also lock it down to certain locations only, as well as obfuscation, and keys.

can i change the default ports AIO uses to whatever i want? i know i will have to update those port forwards in my router as well as my firewall.

the biggest issue is i want to make sure my free domain name i have had forever will work with AIO

thanks

If you want to access your Nextcloud through a domain, you have free options with dyndns operators, there are also paid ones where you can have your own top-level domain. This just translates the domain name to an ip address. Once this works, you can run Nextcloud, Nextcloud via AIO, any other web-service, …

Problem with home ISP, since there is a shortage of ipv4 addresses, ISP start to put you behind carrier-grade NAT, then the dyndns with port forwarding won’t work for ipv4 connections any more.

Keep in mind, if you are in Hotel-Wifi etc. they sometimes block non-standard ports. Also ipv4 depletion leads to owner changes of ipv4-ranges, if the database is not updated often enough, the location might be wrong.

Ok, great. Yeah my ISP has been pretty cool with things. I have a couple of servers now. My ip does change every few months but no biggie, i just update the freedns with a single click of a button. I may try duckdns

hmmm, maybe keeping the standard ports might be something i need to do since this will be fore me, and a few family members

Does AIO have built in things like a document editor and other tools?

OHH, one major thing i almost forgot… I need to make sure that the nextcloud is mounted to my seperate 20TB drive. I do not want docker or nextcloud running on C drive, i want it running all on the 20TB drive for install and storage.

I use to run linux servers back in the day so i am somewhat familiar with mounting but its been 15 years and this is on a windows box. Nothing has been downloaded or installed yet. just trying to get it all ready

im guessing this

“/run/desktop/mnt/host/C/ncdata”

needs to change to

/run/desktop/mnt/host/Z/ncdata

if my new 20TB were labeled Z drive in windows?

thanks
