Server Sync - ideas?

I have 3 different location who need an instance of nextcloud, but we also want them all to be connected, so we can communicate and such.

Requirements:

-Storage for each individual instance, and a shared one.
-Users from one server can talk to another remotely.

Any idea to how one should do this or what could be used.

Ps, I have looked into (federation) but I have no idea if it does the trick.

In this case the option only would be to have one instance i guess. Talk does not support federation at the moment, there is an open request for this functionality.

Otherwise federation is the way to go. You will get shared files, documents and stuff like that. But chat will be missing.
