Security & setup warnings - webfinger and nodeinfo

Nextcloud version 21.0.0
Operating system and version FreeBSD 12.3 (TrueNAS 12.0-U2 jail)
Nginx version 1.18.0.25
PHP version 7.4.13

After upgrading to 21.0.0 I’m seeing these two messages on the Security and setup warning page:

  • Your web server is not properly set up to resolve “/.well-known/webfinger”. Further information can be found in the documentation.
  • Your web server is not properly set up to resolve “/.well-known/nodeinfo”. Further information can be found in the documentation.

I’ve checked the linked documentation and tried a few Google searches and can’t see anything recent referring to webfinger or nodeinfo or how to update the webserver configuration.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Consider to re-create your host/site definition for NGINX according to the manual. This NGINX config solved it for me. Maybe the warning should mention that it might be necessary to use the new template!?

I see same two warnings. Not using nginx, but lighttpd. The doc links provided say nothing about webfinger ad nodeinfo. Undocumented.

Neither link @nursoda provides mentions either of the … total wasteland of documentation on these issues at present.
