Search functionality in chat text

Hello,

I have been trying to find the way of searching for some specific text inside a chat history, but I could not find anything at least in Android App.

Is this functionality not added yet or am I missing something?

How do I search for text in messages from all conversations?

Hi,

I was not able to search anything from Android app side, but it might be due to a non powerful server, as I am using a Raspberry 4 for the Nextcloud.

Said that, I think on the web it works fine if you want to search in “everywhere”, but searching a message only in one specific conversation I think it is not developed yet.

While this is an old question, it deserves a solution as this functionality is available.

When a Talk conversation is open on the web:

  1. Click on the search icon in the top right corner. A unified search modal will open.
  2. Click on “Apps and settings” to open a dropdown.
  3. Select “Messages in the current conversation” to limit search results. If you don’t see it, reload the page of the current conversation.

This filter will limit search results to the current conversation. Without the filter, it will still find the results, but you will see everything else included, not just the current conversation.

Mobile apps do have built-in conversation search, too.
