I wouldn’t hold my breath that there will be an actual desktop client for ChromeOS, or FrydeOS, unless of course it would be possible to install the Linux client (in which case no extra release would be necessary), or if it would be relatively easy to port the Linux desktop client, but that would likely have to be done by the community, I could be wrong though.
PC devices with FydeOS installed can perfectly support the latest web application standards and are compatible with Android applications and Linux environments, providing a Google Chromebook-like experience.
Maybe you could use the Android app.
As browser platform and web technology continue to mature, we are convinced that most of the work you do today over the web will be possible in the future through a simple browser
If none of the above works/is going to happen, I’d say your only option for using the desktop client is to use an OS with an actual desktop while web technology continues to mature to a point where you don’t need a desktop client anymore
EDIT:
My answer obviously referred to the client apps because you posted in that category. If you don’t need them, i.e. if you’re always online and mainly work in the browser anyway, I don’t see anything wrong with using ChromeOS or a derivative of it
