Maintenance releases of 29.0.3, 28.0.7 and 27.1.11 are coming next Tuesday and the fourth RCs for 29 and 28 are now available on our download server.
As always, help with testing is very much welcome!
We updated our servers, did our tests, and the release candidates seem pretty decent. Still, give it a whirl and report back here so we’re even more sure that it’s good to go! If you notice anything out of order, please report back on the appropriate Github repository!
Nextcloud 27 is sunsetting and will receive it’s final release. If you are running this series, it is a good time to plan upgrade to 28!
Please find below also changelogs on the previous RC3s. They have not been announced here as sickness countered processes
The odd behavior where it stopped during the download happened again, and I just opened a new tab and started it again and worked fine.
My test system, though, has had a quirk since a couple months ago (from one of the other RC rounds?) whereas some of the menu links to apps don’t point to the apps, they point to the current page. Only a couple of the apps (right now seems like Notes, Passwords, and Mail), and not 100% of the time. I wonder if it’s time to revert back to an old backup of the system.

I did an upgrade towards this via web and it went through without troubles.
Did you double check the link that is shown on the browser on the bottom when hovering about those entries? Does it point to the domain or default app, instead of the shown one?
The browser hint as to where the link is going is not correct. It’s a link to the current location (e.g. dashboard or activity) instead of the app listed in the menu (e.g. Notes). Edit: I probably should have mentioned that the app is still very much alive and active, and when I type in the proper URL, it activates like normal.
The odd path problem happens on multiple browsers, some without plugins. I thought maybe it’s an anomaly and would revert to a backup since it’s just my test system, but I could try to dig in a bit. It would be difficult to live with on a system that’s in actual use.
In other news, I just updated many of my installations to the full release. Unfortunately, my largest install is having stalls and duplications in the log viewer (and it actually deleted all the log entries at one point). That’s roughly what happened in my test installation a couple months ago; I thought maybe it was related to an issue regarding multiple connections to the database. Hmm.
Do you have Full Text Search installed? If so it’s a known issue with that app and can be remedied by entering its settings and disabling the Navigation presence option.

If it’s limited to the UI log viewer (logreader) there are similar reports at https://github.com/nextcloud/log reader/issues you may wish to check to see if they’re the same thing you’re experiencing. The log is still obviously accessible from the command line/etc.
Download the latest version available for the platform and it does not have the config.php file in the config folder. Is this normal or do you have to do something to generate it?
If the latest version is not good, what would be the latest, the 29.0.3R2.
If you do an update/upgrade, there is already a config.php. If there isn’t, and on top the CAN_INSTALL file, it is probably a new setup and the config.php will be generated during the installation.
Here your problem is, that everything belongs to root and the webserver user cannot create or modify files/folders.
The latest versions of each major version can be found here:
The RC-versions are release candidates and are only release for testing and should not be used in productive environments.
These are old RC versions, the releases are already out.
Closing this thread. If you have problems with these versions, please create dedicated topics of your problem you have.
Thanks for testing, for those who used the RC4 versions.
