RAW thumbnails/previews missing on hosted Nextcloud (Aruba Drive Advanced)

Hi everyone,

I’m a home user on a hosted Nextcloud provided by Aruba (Aruba Drive Advanced service). On the web UI I can’t see thumbnails or lightbox previews for RAW files (NEF/ARW/CR3/DNG). Files appear in the list, but clicking them triggers a download instead of an inline preview.

Context:

• Service: Aruba Drive Advanced (managed Nextcloud – I don’t have admin access)
• Desktop: Nextcloud Desktop on Windows 11
• on Windows 11, with “Virtual Files” enabled, File Explorer shows no thumbnails for RAW placeholders. If I mark files “Available offline” and install Microsoft’s Raw Image Extension, thumbnails appear locally – so this part is expected on Windows.
• just as comparison, on OneDrive I do get online RAW thumbnails (both on web UI and on File Explorer, but I realize that’s a different stack.

Aruba doesn’t enable it by its side.

this is your answer. if hosting provider doesn’t enable the feature you desire there is no way to overcome it.
