Problem with File Sharing App

Hi. It seems I have some issues with the official File Sharing App.

With the App activated, the browser window in Firefox 61 (64bit, Developer Edition) only shows the left pane where you can choose between all files, current, favorites, etc., while the right pane shows a blank area instead of the files and folders list. Clearing browser cache doesn’t resolve the issue. Amazingly, Google Chrome shows the files and folders just perfectly well.

If I deactivate the File Sharing App, all files and folders are shown in my Firefox Browser, too. After activation the problem occurs again. Not using the App would be a short term solution, but I would really miss this feature.

With the App activated, the browser console shows a bunch of error messages:

If I look into the existing files on my server, a file core/js/merged-share-backend.json exists, but not a file core/js/merged-share-backend.js as mentioned in the first error message saying "Loading failed for with source “https://***/js/core/merged-share-backend.js?v=9711370a-1”.

Let me know, if (and how) I can provide any further necessary information to you.

Hi,

Which version of Nextcloud are you using?

Using Firefox 59.x is no option? Could you check anyway if Firefox 59 would display the contents with File Sharing app enabled?

Could you try to run Firefox 61 without any extensions and see if probably an extension is blocking something?

Hi Kristian @Schmu,

I’m running latest stable Nextcloud 13.0.2 on latest Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver LTS, using PHP 7.2 on Nginx and MariaDB 10.1, unfortunately with same result in plain vanilla Firefox 59 in stable mode (AddOns disabled):

Hm. I don’t understand why, but on a Ubuntu Laptop Firefox 61 Developer Edition shows the files and folders just as it is supposed to be. I can only assume, it has to do with some profile settings in Firefox on my Mac (although settings and AddOns are synched between devices). Odd.

Edit: That was too fast. After reloading the page, file and folder icons aren’t shown in this browser, too. No clue.

Hi @pixolin,

Can you press ctrl + F5 in de browser window?
Any change?

I wish it was that easy. :man_shrugging:
(No, didn’t change anything.)

It seems my Firefox browser configuration was wrong.
After resetting that, everything seems to be back to normal.

¯_(ツ)_/¯
