Port Forwarding

Hi,

So I can forward my ports for next cloud but I don’t understand how I can forward them to different ports and get Nextcloud to work.

In other words, yes, I get how to do the port forwarding but am I correct in thinking that Nextcloud clients will only work by port 80 & 443? Port forwarding does work if forwarded to the same ports i.e. 80 to 80 and 443 to 443. Can I forward to an entirely different port and will the Nextcloud clients be able to work with that?

Thanks

James

Lots of info on how to set this up between the forum, docs and internet searches. You will likely be using Apache or nginx. The ports are needed for getting an ssl certificate with let’s encrypt or similar with the domain or dyndns service you use.

You can also try searching the forum. And see

Hi,

Thanks for the reply however I wasn’t really asking how to set it up, more whether I have to do a direct port forward (443 to 443, 80 to 80 because I haven’t been able to figure how the clients will work with alternate ports.

Thanks

James
