Your guess is as good as mine, when simply looking at a list of uploaded media files, unless clicking each one to find out.
Any chance of adding some sort of indicator to each one letting us be able to differentiate what file type it is? i.e. perhaps a standard triangle shape overlay on the thumb to indicate that clicking it will “play” a video file?
Just using DropBox as a random example, they add a small video length icon below video files:
