Support intro
Sorry to hear you’re facing problems.
The community help forum (help.nextcloud.com) is for home and non-enterprise users. Support is provided by other community members on a best effort / “as available” basis. All of those responding are volunteering their time to help you.
If you’re using Nextcloud in a business/critical setting, paid and SLA-based support services can be accessed via portal.nextcloud.com where Nextcloud engineers can help ensure your business keeps running smoothly.
Getting help
In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.
Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:
- Official documentation (searchable and regularly updated)
- How to topics and FAQs
- Forum search
(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).

Summary of the issue you are facing:
The symptoms appear to be identical to [FIXED] Photos shows top menu but no content - but only for a single user! , to wit: “The Photos top menu shows, but no other content, only a blank page. viewing the photos folder in files mode works as expected. no helpful logs are created.”
However, the solution given there didn’t seem to work for me. That is:
occ user:setting usernamephotos photosSourceFolders [‘“/Photos”’]
Two possible issues:
- I might not have the right file path. Assuming the
datadirectoryvalue in config.php doesn’t need to be repeated, the path should be/files/Photos. Or maybe it should befiles/Photoswithout the slash? Or something else? I tried several variations, but maybe not the right one. - The formatting of the directory (
[‘“/Photos”’]) might be incorrect. Again, I tried several variations.
The current setting is:
photos:
photosSourceFolders: [“/files/Photos”]
…without curly quotes. (Those seem to have been inserted by help.nextcloud.com’s text editor.)
Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):
-
As a logged-in user in the web interface, click the Photos icon
-
See nothing but the top menu.
Log entries
Nextcloud
None. Reloading the page in the web interface fails to create a new entry. (I checked both the Administration settings->Logging screen and /media/[datavolume]/ncdata/data/nextcloud.log.)
