Er jeg den eneste, der synes det er mærkeligt at Talk dukker op som “Snak”. Det virker helt forkert for mig at den hedder dette?

The translation of “Talk” to “Snak” in danish is like translating “Talk” in german to “Quatsch”. Absolutely best translation in this case is actually to call it “Talk”.
What might be against it is the inconsistency in that many of the other Nextcloud Apps are named for their function. For them the translation works, but for Talk we need to either keep it at Talk or change it to “Møde” which is Meeting in danish. But I definitly prefer Talk.
Also Nextcloud Deck should also just keep it’s name or be translated to Opgaver (Tasks) or Kort (Cards). Right now it is translated to “Opslag” which basicly means “Look up” or in german “Aufschlagen”. That makes no sense at all…

Well I only can speak for german translation and the translation team once decided how to handle App-Names… If to translate or not.
And - from my pov - there’s no real unique direction. Like “Talk” remains untranslated while “Circles” (back then) was translated to “Kreise”, which, of course, means the same in german. But sometimes it makes things a bit uneasy.
So I, personally, would favour keeping all original names (if they are in english) - but then again… you need to discuss that with the danish tanslation team at transifex (that’s where the localizations are handled) (errr… I think you really can’t get into a real discussion but you can find out how to contact them… the german translation-team has a subforum/subthread of their own over here at this forum)
Thanks for raising the issue. I know it’s sometimes tricky and has been handled differently in the past. At least for “Nextcloud Talk” I can say it’s a brand name and should not be translated, so “Talk” should stay “Talk”.
Edit: I also sent a message to one of the translators.
@bargib All “Snak” have been converted to “Talk”. Still pending some review and hope I court all of the instances. But there is also a lot of talking, which has been kept as “snakke”
Great! At some point I would love to connect. There are some other translations like ‘Deck’ is translated to ‘Opslag’ which in German would be ‘Anschlag’ or ‘Beitrag’ . Please also keep Deck as the English term for that Nextcloud app.
Opslag is a term in danish that has several meanings and is confusing in this context In danish it can also mean ‘look up’ like in ‘search’ and would be the most common interpretation.

I’ve in Euro-Office also seen Chat translated to “Snak”. In danish, we use “Chat” for all types of online texting, not “Snak”. So keep Talk for identifying the function/application in Nextcloud, but use Chat if it is pure messaging - or Talk if it is connected to the application.
