Overlay icons in Dolphin file manager (KDE)

Hi there!

Is there a possibility to get overlay icons reporting the sync status for Dolphin, the file manager in KDE Plasma? I’ve tried the package nextcloud-client-dolphin from the Launchpad repo both on Kubuntu 16.04 and on KDE Neon 5.8 User LTS, with no success. (Btw. the client program is working without any issues, including a tray icon on the Plasma desktop.)

On Ubuntu GNOME and on stock Ubuntu (with Unity) I get these overlay icons on Nautilus file manager just by installing the package nextcloud-client-nautilus, so I wonder what’s missing here under KDE to get it work.

Thanks a lot for advise!

Right click on the notification area, click on the notification area settings and on the window that opens, on the left side click on elements and locate NextCloud, change from automatic to show.

I suppose both of you refer to different icons. @felixw refers to the overlay icons in the Dolphin file manager from the KDE desktop, while @Leandro_Angelo refers to the KDE system tray icon.

However, for me the overlay icons in KDE’s Dolphin don’t work either on Kubuntu 16.04 Xenial with Nextcloud-Client 2.3.2 installed.

The next version of the client will have some changes for Linux environments. You should try again with the 2.3.3rc2-version of the client and if you still have problems with overlay icons to report it directly to the developers on https://github.com/owncloud/client/issues
