Summary of the issue you are facing:

I am willing to use the file manager with its contextual menu and overlay icons on files (as described here in the official documentation), but I can’t see any menu nor icon appear.

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

  1. Install the Nextcloud Files sync app for Fedora
  2. Sync folders and files
  3. See that nothing happens regarding contextual menu/icons (despite a working Tray icon)

I’ve seen a similar issue posted here, but I’m not sure I understand the conclusion correctly: is the contextual menu/icon overlay impossible to install on GNOME?

Thanks ahead for your help!

If you installed it via Gnome Software app, and it shows “Fedora Linux Flatpak” or “Flathub Flatpak” there, it’s not going to work, as both flatpaks don’t provide integrations for Gnome Files (Nautilus).

So I recommend uninstalling the Flatpack and then installing the “Fedora Linux RPM” package, which should automatically install the file manager inetgration as a dependency.

Alternatively you can also install it via command line:

sudo dnf install nextcloud-desktop-nautilus

Note: The nextcloud-desktop-nautilus package only works with nextcloud-desktop (the “Fedora Linux RPM” package from the screenshot above), which will be automatically installed as a dependency. It cannot be used to add the file manager integrations to the flatpaks. Just in case you were wondering

Hope that helps.

Hi @bb77!
That was the trick!
I followed the RPM installation and now it works (after closing and reopening my session).
Many thanks! It’s going to save me a lot of time! :ok_hand:
