Option "keep on device" not working for windows nextcloud desktop

Latelly, the option “keep on device” in the desktop client for Windows barely works. The status icon changes to the blue circle with the arrows and the “sync pending” message is shown. But nothing happens. Sometimes, from time to time, the app decides to download a few files and show the green dot indicating that the file is locally available, but that’s all. I waited for days… no change. This feature used to work like a charm in past versions. I am the only one experiencing problems?

This happens in several of my computers, with two different providers, so it looks like a nextcloud-related issue

I just tried with a small folder on NC-client 33.0.5 on windows 11 (right click, “Always keep on this device”) . It shows the sync pending status, it does not disappear quickly, so I open the folder to check, all files are synced (white checkmark in green circle) and when I go one level up, the folder shows the same green status (no pending status).

Yes, I also observed this behaviour, which is confusing, because the folder status is never updated until you visit the content.

However, in some cases (bigger folders with many files inside), the inner folders and content are not updated at all. I waited for days and no change. In past versions everything was updated in seconds/minutes

In such a case logfiles could be interesting;

Perhaps it is just a single file or folder creating this problem …

Thanks for the hint. I’ll generate and check them

I’m seeing similar behavior on my computer. However, I’ve always been able to find a hidden file (usually desktop.ini) at the end of the path in the folder, but it’s on the ignore list.

After deleting this file, the sync status is displayed correctly in the path—at least until some action triggers the file to be recreated in the folder.
