OnlyOffice will not open files after upgrade to 30.0.5

I fought the good fight about a year or so ago and installed NextCloud to sync my contacts across nearly a dozen machines with BetterBird. I experimented with the OnlyOffice stuff inside the browser and it worked rather well.

Some time in January I upgraded to 30.0.4 because it was January and I hadn’t done any upgrades. Did not check OnlyOffice then but I noticed some of the menu icons were missing, but I’m old. Could have sworn there were icons for word processing and spreadsheets.

Today I upgraded to 30.0.5. I had need to use the OnlyOffice features across machines. Not multiple people, multiple machines. I’m looking for an alternative to my aging NAS for my book writing. Been burned by leaving word processor open on one machine the night before, editing on a different machine, then a save from the stale machine enough times to look into something different.

Installed on Linux Mint and I keep up on the updates.

I have went through every “guide” I can find. Seems to be an awful lot of OO is busted threads for NextCloud.

I’ve been in IT about 40 years now. Written software for Mainframes, Midranges, PCs, and spent the past decade creating medical devices; can’t make heads or tails out of trying to troubleshoot this. Can’t find a rhyme or reason as to when it logs or where.

Current state:

Click on .docx file and get a download dialog.
Click on .odt file and it spins forever saying it is loading then fails with a most helpful “try again later.”

Is this a known upgrade issue?
Aren’t the updates cumulative as with other software?
If I go to the pain of wiping the machine to bare metal, re-isntalling Mint and everything else that is on that server will NextCloud and OnlyOffice “just work” once again?

Where is the correct doc? Seems to be an awful lot of “stale” doc about very old versions where you had to manually install OO.

Thanks.

Sorry if I rambled, but been a long 6 hours trying to find a pattern to this.

I may have to wipe and restore to pre-January backup . . . then re-add the second drive to NextCloud. Really hope to not do that.
