Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response

Use the preformatted text formatting option in the editor for all log entries and configuration output.
If screenshots are useful, feel free to include them.
- If possible, also include key error output in text form so it can be searched for.
Try to edit log output only minimally (if at all) so that it can be ran through analyzers / formatters by those trying to help you.

I have resolved the issue by downloading the tar.gz files from github and installing them with the procedure described here: How to manually update an app - #4 by j-ed
However I’m convinced that this is a new problem.
Installing apps manually is only a workaround.

What happens if you try to manually do a curl or wget of https://github.com/nextcloud-releases/mail/releases/download/v5.0.0/mail-v5.0.0.tar.gz from your server command-line?

Effectively the curl command didn’t work from the CLI either.
Then I realised what I had done: changed the firewall settings!
I switched off the firewall and it works so I just have to find the right settings.
