Ive been working in a different approach…Bjut stills doesnt work…
Two different virtual machines in my local computer, ubuntu 18.4. ping between machines works ok. Both using virtualbox on bridge mode.
Document Server 5.4.1
Nextcloud 16.0.4 and now 17.0.1
Both machines using nginx in Ubuntu 18.04

One virtual mahine with Nextcloud 16.0.4 and now updated to 17.0.1, both failing…
Nextcloud works ok, installed and enable Onlyoffice integration app.

Then i have another virtual machine with Document Server runnig ok, with http and https in localhost self-signed SSL using openssl

I ideally would like to have both Document server and nextcloud in same virtual machine as declared in #611

are you sure that any of the service needed by onlyoffice are up and running?
this looks like rabbitmq, redis and postgres are not working.

if your nextcloud instance is using also a selfsigned cert you have to tell onlyoffice to accept it. it’s explained here:thomass4t · GitHub

By the way nice tutorials about nextcloud and onlyoffice, my first purpose was trying to put all in the same server, but i cant get it to work. Installing both servers not using docker. In a ubuntu 18.04 with nginx. As i didnt get it then im trying with different virtual machines. We can give a try and make a tutorial if we get finally to work…

first of all you should test the connection to onlyoffice from a client.

https://localhost/ is not a good idea because you need a remote connection.

after nextcloud and onlyoffice are reachable from your client. you ave to make sure the onlyoffice app is installed and conifgured. (e.g. ‘verify_peer_off’ => true and services.CoAuthoring.requestDefaults.rejectUnauthorized=false)

after that you should be able to create an office document and open it with onlyoffice. or you have to make a screen shot of the error in your browser.

you’ll find it in the playbook. :wink: i have to add rejectUnauthorized=false which is easy. and remove docker for onlyoffice. which will take a while.

Note: Id prefer not to use https, because im on local machines, in my institute i have proxy and certificates complicate things to my students. Working with http would be ok to me, and perhaps leave https to optional work.

Then i have another virtual machine : 192.168.1.52 which i have nextcloud 16.0.6. First of all it gave me error of Libcurl60 sssl, it doesnt matter if i connected using http:/192.168.1.51 or https, the same error. I have all the virtual machines in bridge mode and i can ping between them

nope. just wrote a playbook to install both.

I never tested with http. but you can’t mix the two protocols. so make sure that it’s always http but better https. on both sides nextcloud and onlyoffice.

and please don’t use ip addresses. if you have a working dns stick to fqdns.

all traffik to http port 80 should be redirected to https port 443. to avoid the error message in curl try curl --insecure https://onlyoffice.eduardo.com

‘verify_peer_off’ => true this tells nextcloud to accept the selfsigned certificate of onlyoffice.eduardo.com.

services.CoAuthoring.requestDefaults.rejectUnauthorized=false this tells onlyoffice to accept the selfsigned certificate of nextcloud.eduardo.com and yes you have to put into local.json.

Somehow it seems i can get to document server from nc virtual machine. Seems it redirects well.

I have tried botth
‘verify_peer_off’ => true this tells nextcloud to accept the selfsigned certificate of in virtualmahine with nextcloud

I dont have any DNS, i only have configured nginx to work with localhost as default and onlyoffice.eduardo.com as second option…Im working all in local…
The only thing is in /etc/hosts added:
127.0.0.1 localhost onlyoffice.eduardo.com
and the sites avalaible in nginx…

Also i only have document server secured, i dont have https in nextcloud virtualmachine, but the problem i think is connection between nextcloud and document server, serving things to nextcloud…

Any ideas ??

Thanks for your help…id try this afternoon, now i have to work…
Just to let you know that i want to connect from NC virtual machine to Document Server virtual machine. And the tests above where from 192.168.1.52 ( nextcloud machine ) to 192.168.1.51 ( document server virtual machine). As in the browser of nextcloud vm, i go to nextcloud.eduardo.com, enter in nextcloud and want to activate onlyoffice app, setting the address of docuement server…

Just for now the browser in real machine would let me enter in nextcloud from host machine ( remote machine)

as i mentioned before: if you access nextcloud via http you have to configure the onlyoffice server also with http. but your nginx.conf (from above) would redirect everything to https. i’m sure but i guess that would cause problems.

in fact a drawing would be helpful. too many remote and localhosts. :slight_smile:
there is a draw.io app in nextcloud appstore to draw servers. :wink:

Ive made some progress, but still doesnt work @Reiner_Nippes

Now i have as draw before post:
192.168.1.51 -> Document Server VM working with nginx…
http://localhost shows an standard page index.html page
https://localhost -> Document server is running ok
http://only.office.eduardo.com and https://only.office.eduardo.com -> Document sever is working ok
I think is a http redirecton or rewrite issue but i think important thing is that i can connect with self signed certificates.

192.168.1.52 -<>Nextcloud VM working with nginx
wherever i write localhost, https://localhost,http://nextcloud.eduardo.com, https://nextcloud.eduardo.com -> are redirect to https://nextcloud.eduardo.com with works ok

Ping between two machines, works ok in both directions.
I can also open
https://192.168.1.52 and go to nextcloud from browser in DocumentServer machine

just to make sure: you are using always https? you can’t access nextcloud through http and connect to onlyoffice through https.

Yes i suppose thats the log with all the tests…
You can take a look to screenshots in drive, i have https://localhost/welcome working ok in UbuntuDs, so from nextcloud i should put https://192.168.1.51 or https://onlyoffice.eduardo.com, and should connect…

Then i was making some tests of changing names, and http just lookig for some luck…

OK. Well in this case your onlyoffice installation is broken. You should ask in the Onlyoffice forum. (Or use the docker image of OnlyOffice. :wink: )
