I’ve installed NextCloudPi via an image v1.55.3 on my raspberry pi4. The rp4 end up at a login prompt and further installation takes place via the URL nextcloudpi.local. I confirmed I use an external USB storage location and it was auto mounted. However, while the path “data dir” exists on external media, various other paths don’t e.g. the data base location on external media.
So I wanted to log into the rp4 to check, but I can’t. The default user pi and raspberry doesn’t work. I thought of using SSH but the instructions clearly state you need to change the default password of the rpi4. I thought maybe I login with ncp and its incredibly long password. But there is a time limit in typing it of 60 seconds.
How do you get into the rpi4? Ideally via SSH.
So I assume you got your activation done after installation, you have to setup ssh in webui https://nextcloudpi.local:4443, there you can setup admin password, too.
Thanks. It doesn’t list the old password (the frantically long one) and I thought nc-admin would just change the password to nextcloud admin, not the rpi4 linux account, which you need to use SSH. Under networking-ssh it does state you need to change the rpi4 password. Puzzled…
You got two “very long passwords”, first you get ncp on webui 4443 working, second you get ncp working on your nextcloud instance as admin-user, changing password for this account is mnanaged there.
Than you setup ssh, you are free to choose username and password.
Login via ssh, update your server and keep in mind, that new installation on pi are now armbian based. armbian-upgrade, and armbian-config are now available, with ncp-config you got another way to administer your nextcloud instance.
Thanks. I’ve now managed to log in via SSH. Tried it before but it would not let me in. Re-imaged and started again and your advice seems to have helped. I now need to figure out why ncp stated it configured the external USB drive but the path is invalid.
That could be the next post .
