Nextcloud stopped being accessible from outside LAN

Nextcloud version (eg, 20.0.5): 27.1.2.3
Operating system and version: Debian GNU/Linux 11. 5.15.61-v8+ (aarch64)
Apache or nginx version: Apache/2.4.56 (Debian)
PHP version (eg, 7.4): 8.1.25

I cannot access my Nextcloud from outside of my home network. After the initial setup with freeDNS and letsencrypt it worked fine. During the freeDNS setup, setup notify_push failed with cURL error 28. However, I was able to access it and SSL was working. 2-3 hours later, I have not been able to access the cloud anymore. Accessing without SSL on my home network with nextcloudpi.local works fine.

I have a public IPv4 (no CGNAT) and forwarded ports 80 and 443 on my router. I had 80 and 443 open during letsencrypt and then closed 80. It worked fine, but since it has stopped working I reopened 80 for debug purposes.
I checked that DNS works correctly using https://dnschecker.org/ and verified my ports are open on https://www.canyouseeme.org/

I will also mention that I used my data drive for a previous ncp instance. I put all directories from that instance in another folder and then moved my ncdata directory as usual.

I am unsure what logs to include and where they are located when accessing via the shell. Please let me know and I will post them.

Output errors in nextcloud.log in /var/www/ or as admin user in top right menu, filtering for errors. Use a pastebin service if necessary.

Not sure where to find this and how to filter using SSH.

The Nextcloud.log additionally tells about permission problems with

please check, whether the folder is existing and has the correct permissions, normally “www-data www-data” (see permissions as other files and folders there).

I only used “sub.mydomain.com” as a placeholder, the actual name is the one I use to connect.

I will be sure to check the file permissions as suggested.

Strangely enough, I can now access the login page as expected from outside via HTTPS. Maybe there was a glitch with my ISP/Router.

Hoping for the best and I will keep observing for now.

Check the webserver’s log /var/log/apache2/access_log resp. /var/log/nginx/access_log.

There you will find out, whether a request from external became noticed and - if exists - the error code and -message.
