Hi I am using arch linux. My Nextcloud version is 4.0.3 daily. I have a server that runs Nextcloud as an onion site (over tor) and therefore need a SOCKS5 proxy on my client to access it. On a previous version, (not sure which one exactly), there was an option to click settings and then proxy, you could easily set it up there via the gui. However, after a recent update, that was no longer possible, the option is there but it didn’t register if I put the proxy, so I had to go into nextcloud.cfg and manually type this
[Proxy]
host=127.0.0.1
needsAuth=false
port=9050
type=1
user=
After starting tor and checking with nmap, it was all fine. But the next update, that didn’t work either, I had to keep on deleting nextcloud.cfg so that it used the backup with the proxy typed in. That woeked after an hour of tinkering. Now, for the 4th time, there is another issue. When I do what I did previously, after opening Nextcloud, the previous config file respawns, overwrting the one with the proxy. So I cannot use my proxy at all and access it. I have been trying for an hour. I think that it would be fixed if I can change where it tells Nextcloud to look for the config file (look for my manual one instead of the default) or it could be fixed by getting it to stop overwriting. I don’t know how to do that or how feasible it would be though. I just reinstalled, so I don’t think rolling back is going to work. Please can someone support me to get the proxy to work. Thanks.

btw, one of my other machines runs debian and Nextcloud works fine there, there is a status bar that it can run from. However, on my arch device, I am using dwm and dwmblocks, so I cannot use the statusbar for Nextcloud and need to just use the client as a software. Despite this, it worked perfectly fine in the beginning, but the influx of all these updates has seemingly caused more problems that solutions for people running my setup. I am disappointed that there has been a new issue in this aspect every time I use Nextcloud.

Hi there, could you elaborate on this?

what kinda of nextcloud installation you got there?

Version?

NextCloud Error logs? WebServer Error logs? Tor Proxy Error logs?
