Getting help

In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.

Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:

(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).

Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can.

The Basics

  • Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x):
    • 31.0.9
  • Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04):
    • Linux 6.8.12-10-pve x86_64
  • Web server and version (e.g, Apache 2.4.25):
    • openresty /nginx/1.27.4
  • Reverse proxy and version _(e.g. nginx 1.27.2)
    • Nginx 2.12.6
  • PHP version (e.g, 8.3):
    • 8.3.17
  • Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):
    • no
  • When did this problem seem to first start?
    • always
  • Installation method (e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)
    • Proxmox LXC Container
  • Are you using CloudfIare, mod_security, or similar? (Yes / No)
    • No

Summary of the issue you are facing:

When using Nextcloud Office in any browser on any client (but especially on mobile), it is nearly impossible to enter text.

It seems, inputs are only being queried every other second. Everything in between is ignored. This makes typing impossible. Inputs from mobile keyboards with auto completion are absoluteley messed up.

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

  1. Create a new document and open it in Nextcloud Office (Collabora 25.04.4.3, embedded).

  2. Edit the document in any browser.

  3. Type text faster than one letter per second.

Log entries

Nextcloud

Please provide the log entries from your Nextcloud log that are generated during the time of problem (via the Copy raw option from Administration settings->Logging screen or from your nextcloud.log located in your data directory). Feel free to use a pastebin/gist service if necessary.

@GaRv3 welcome back

looks like you’ve been bitten by this Collabora CODE 25.4.403 not working · Issue #322 · CollaboraOnline/richdocumentscode · GitHub bug

consider adding valuable input on the devs github or wait for fix from collabora…

This does not really look like my issue. It is more about Collabora not responding or not opening documents.
My problem is that it does not process all input. For example I just wrote “This is just a test. I am not sure what to type.” in a document but on the page is: “This is ut test. Am not ure h to type.” So some of the keystrokes have been ignored. Most of the time this is ven worse!

that’s exactly what you’re describing!

You cannot be sure, whether the mentioned bug above has nothing to do with the issue you reported. You can try to downgrade, as described in the Github bug-report. If your Collabora works properly then, the bug was the cause of the issue.

How much memory does your system have? - If less than 8GB, you should increase memory (my experience). Also check the CPU usage wit the “top” command in the console. If the CPU permanently uses 100%, there might be an other issue, which causes the input-lacks.

I cannot be be sure. That’s true and I never said I was.

Memory usage is always around 50% and CPU usage is usually around 0% to 3% with max spikes at 10%.

Okay, so this is strange. I followed the downgrade in the github bug discussion which seems to not have worked correctly (still the same version shown in admin panel) but the problem is solved. Don’t know why exactly but well, I’ll take it
