Nextcloud, Nextcloudpi, Docker, Moodle installations and integration

Hi,

The Basics

Nextcloud version : 28.0.14.1
Operating system and version : Armbian-unofficial 24.2.1 Bookworm \l . 6.6.18-current-bcm2711 (aarch64)
Debian 12 bookworm
Apache or nginx version : Apache 2.4.62 (Debian)
PHP version : 8.1.31

Summary of the issue you are facing:

So it’s not an issue per se, I’m trying to get some clarity…

I have a raspberryPi 400.
I installed NexcloudPi, all up and running (few issues with update currently,
but nothing broken)

Now… I’d like to host my own instance of Moodle… And I’m reaching some of my limits in defining what the best option would be…

Reading few things, I understand the recomendation to separate NextCloud and Moodle probably using Docker (easier to backup and fix anything “separately” as needed). But the Docker version of NextcloudPi has been discontinued.

So… I’m guessing I can’t have NextcloudPi + Docker “on the side” with Moodle inside docker right ? If my guesses and (limited) understanding are correct, Docker should be installed “bare”, and then other apps within Docker containers correct ?

Now if this is correct, could the Nextcloud AOI be installed in a Docker Container, on the RaspberryPi 400 ? (here I’m more concerned with potential performance issues)

I’d rather not start my setup all over, everythihng is working fine, and migrating from NextCloudPi to AOI, ensuring I can re-integrate all my backups and calendars etc… would be a real pain but… I also want to make sure to make the “right” choice before considering dealing with a Moodle installation…

So, how would you recommend to go about the whole thing to get from NextclouPi → to Nextcloud (Pi or AOI) + Moodle on RaspberryPi 400 ?
