Online Nextcloud Conference 2020 is coming! :artificial_satellite:

Just a few months from now, on October 3-4, our annual Nextcloud Conference will take place in the virtual space 🛰!

This is our opportunity to get together again, connect even more internationally 👾, hear from you wherever you are, discuss, have a lot of fun and also make Nextcloud even more awesome!

Come and share with us what you’ve been working on: We want to hear about everything that’s Nextcloud related! Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th will be dedicated to talks, workshops and keynotes and of course, relaxed meet-up evenings! Contributor Week will happen after the Conference, from October 6th to 9th.

Call for Speakers is now open! We’re waiting for you!

We invite you to submit a proposal if you want to present or share anything related to Nextcloud. Your proposal should be simple and short: Just tell us in a few words about what you want to share with other Nextclouders!

Lighting talks are between 3-8 minutes long, followed by a short Q&A! Workshops can be between 1 and 4 hours long and are meant to teach new skills, as for example: Write your first app! Security! Performance optimization! or get things done together: Implementing a new API across clients! Build a new app! etc. We would prefer any slides in PDF or a similar universal file format. Note that most workshops will take place during the Contributor week but some happen also during the Conference!

To avoid issues and support the quick pacing of lightning talks, we will work with you to create pre-recorded sessions. Keep in mind that the talks are very low-key and low-stress: Anyone can present and the conference team is happy to help you practice a bit if you’re worried about anything!

The deadline for the Call for speakers is August 15; after that, you have time until the 1st of September to submit a draft of your slides and the first recording of your talk. We will give feedback and work with you to polish it up and make a great talk recording for the event! During the conference itself, you have to be available for the live Q&A session after your talk.

What’s the plan?

Our event is like one of our roughly bi-monthly hack weeks on steroids, usually taking place in bustling Berlin, but this year we’ll be everywhere! We go Online, to the virtual space! Think intensive discussions and coding, only interrupted by relaxing evenings!

Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4

On Saturday and Sunday, we kick off each day with some inspirational keynote talks in the morning, followed by a technical talk after lunch. Then, it’s time for the traditional Nextcloud lightning talks and a workshop session!

While we have yet to announce keynote speakers you should stay tuned for some big news!

Tuesday – Friday, October 6-9

We will go back to what we do best: reflecting upon Nextcloud and getting our hands dirty!

The Contributor week will be busy coding, designing, discussing and working on the future of private, federated, secure cloud technology! Bring your ideas & get designing and coding with us. We will also offer some workshops as a kick-off and inspiration for your weekend!

If you want to build the next great Nextcloud app, or just meet the people Who Get It Done, join us!

Geeet ready!

As of today, registration for the conference is open and you can get yourself signed up right here or first learn more on our conference page. We’ll keep registration open until a few days before the event, but we’re already excited to see how many of us will meet virtually!
