I have updated my nextcloud phone app to version V3.30.7 from the f-droid app store. However now auto upload is not working instantly. Before it was working instantly.
The first photo after a reboot is uploaded then it stops. 30 minutes later still nothing is uploaded. the app has all rights.
Are there more people with this issue?
PS when i restart the phone the upload works one time again. (immediately after the phone is started) After that its done.
I have the same issue with that version. It does what it wants, it seems. Sometimes it works for a few days and then it stops syncing. Then it syncs the most recent file, but not the 5 from a few hours earlier.
NC keeps “not finding” files, in folders that were well known to it a day before. And I didn’t change anything, no new install of anything else, no cfg-change, nothing, Breaks my skull what’s going on here.
Any help is appreciated.
A button to trigger scan/upload manually would be nice and prevent a lot of issues going forward.
Maybe, if the intention is to avoid having too many buttons, another option could be to integrate it in the pause function. Like when you unpause a trigger would occur.
Or both
Edit: Another option could be to trigger on swipe down, like reloading works.
You have to restart the phone. Sometimes several times, until all files are uploaded.
The software is free of charge. Therefore, you should not be annoyed if there are sometimes a few small errors. But you are always welcome to improve the code and make a PR if you don’t agree with the UX.
You should also check the error messages. The client claims that a file cannot be found on the device and does not upload it. Yet the file exists, if you open it via the file browser.
It may be related to Google retracting full file system permissions, leaving the Nextcloud app high and dry.
Partial solace was offered by requesting access to the photo/media framework.
For that to work, users have to upgrade to a version of the Nextcloud app that actually has “wants access to photos” as a property, and users have to then allow that (all the while assuming that this app does not need that, because it always has had full access)
Version 3.30.8 (January 20, 2025) is available. As I read in annother thread, the issues should have been solved.
At the moment it is working on my Android device (Installed from F-Droid).
No, they are not. You still have to restart the phone for synchronization to start. But at least you don’t have to do it as often as in the previous version (3.30.7).
Same issue, version 3…30.8 and instant upload is not instant… rather random. Finally always starts, but sometimes it takes 10 hours…
One more observation → I’m using also Memories app, and while triggering upload manually from memories it is done, but on phone app is giving me error message that upload has failed, after some time Nextcloud client is informing about conflict asking to resolve for manually uploaded photos…
In my case afer phone restart it starts working immediately, I feel that after some time period between shot and upload increases… I have restarted few minutes ago and I’m starting observation…
