Nextcloud client solution architecture

I tried to find my way in apps, functionality, connectivity and syncing and didn´t succeed yet. I made this drawing to my best knowledge at the moment.
My starting point is Thunderbird, then external Nextcloud. I would like to create tasks from the Desk Kanban system which is not included in Thunderbird.
Is this a workable solution architecture. Please comment.

Hello @Hanri, welcome to the Nextcloud community! :handshake:

I’m not really sure what are you asking about? it’s your decision if a specific setup works for you (and your users). It looks you struggle with Deck/Tasks and plan to use web UI to manage?.. if you are comfortable to do so why not? web UI likely will remain the most integrated method of using NC for long time or maybe forever… but definitely local apps on desktop and mobile integrate better into the “remote” OS. so mix and match as it works for you. e.g. personally I use both NC web UI and Thunderbird to manage contacts and Calendar… depending on the situation

For me, using local applications doesn’t make sense since I handle everything through Nextcloud AIO. This solution provides full access to services from any device, without being restricted to a specific desktop client.

I synchronize contacts, calendar, and Deck using DAVx5 on my mobile phone, which is completely sufficient for my needs. This way, I have all my data available without requiring additional applications or desktop integrations.

Thanks kindly for your comments.

I was looking for a hardened solution and looking for best practices.

I was also reverse engineering the line of thought of the developers and imagining what their product positioning was.

I wanted to collect user experience and see which apps are “alive and well” and which are on a dead-end street.

I am not prepared to leave Thunderbird and want to keep my offline workspace, so NextCloud only is too far away and applications that sync well is my destiny. I have not been able to implement all and have many problems with lack of CalDAV and CardDAV capabilities or not linking to DAVx5.

So I am still hoping for more detailed input and guidance for the solution direction.

Many thanks again,

Hanri
