Nextcloud 35 in container on Debian 12

Hi guys, one simple question - will Nextcloud works in container which runs on Turnkey/Debian 12, which was previously downloaded as one of installation possibility? I can’t update to Debian 13 due to incompatibility of virtualization.

Because minimal requrements for Nextcloud 35 is Debian 13…

Thanks for hints

The requirements documented at System requirements — Nextcloud 35 Administration Manual apply to run Nextcloud on the system itself and not in a container.

When you run Nextcloud in a Docker container, it will bring its own operating system within the container, so the host is more or less irrelevant.

I know about this page, that is wha I asked… Regarding the container - it is NOT docker, it is container for VM - I launched it once (two years ago), and it has been running ever since, with Nextcloud itself being upgraded using its own built-in tool. Of course, I keep the PHP and web service within the container up to date.

So, will it continue to work on Debian 12?

They recommend what works best out of the box. The most critical is probably php, and debian 12 ships php 8.2 by default. You can use NC 34 with this php version (until end of support of NC 34), or you have to use other sources for a newer php version and you can run NC 35.

As I wrote, I already upgraded to PHP8.5.
So I will try to install update to NC35 and will see…

Ok, the phrasing “in container which runs on…” was confusing for me, because this sounded like you have a container with Nextcloud which runs on Debian 12 and not Debian 12 in a container.

Anyway - I agree to the other posts, that the most important part is PHP and the database. When you use the SURY repositories with PHP 8.4 or 8.5 and a current version of MariaDB you should be fine.

OK, thanks to all, I will try to upgrade NC to 35 and will see.
