Nextcloud 31 / Hub 10 – any idea when it’ll finally be marked as Stable?

I have no support/technical question and have seen the support category. (Be aware that direct support questions will be deleted.)

Which general topic do you have

Hey everyone,
does anyone happen to know what’s going on with the stable release of Nextcloud 31 (Hub 10)?

The conference is happening right now, and honestly, I was expecting them to finally announce it as a stable version. But as of now, it’s still stuck in beta.

I’m more on the conservative side – still running Nextcloud 30 with Hub 9 – but I’m really getting impatient and would love to upgrade as soon as it feels safe.

Is there something major still being worked on, or are they just polishing the final details?
Or maybe… does anyone have some insider info about when we might finally see the stable release?

Would really appreciate any insights!

I’m wondering why you are under impression nc31 is now in a beta state?

with 31.0.5 it’s pretty stable and settled now

AFAIK there is no real pain - see Frequent Nextcloud 31 (Hub 10) update issues and also the number of forum topics related to the nc31 upgrade remains low.

on the other side I don’t remember any major changes and improvements. My feeling is rather the “bigger” release happens at the Nextcloud Conference 2025 in September like nc32 this year or nc30 in 2024 - while other releases are more like bugfixes (I would really like they would handle this like it and only raise a minor version). Current conference is “Nextcloud Summit” where the biggest topic seem to be Join the global launch of Nextcloud Talk “Munich”

@wwe – that clarification helps. I’m actually quite excited to hear that 31.0.5 is already considered stable and settled – that definitely changes the perspective for me.

To be honest, the reason I posted this question yesterday was because I had just finished watching the LIVE presentation of Nextcloud Talk “Munich”, and that gave me the impression that a bigger “Hub 10” stable announcement was imminent – maybe even tied to some larger release shift. That was the trigger for me.

I’m still running Nextcloud 30 on AIO, so your reply was the motivation I needed – I’ll dive into the Nextcloud AIO documentation right away to see how to upgrade smoothly to NC31 without hitting any bumps.

And knowing this amazing community, chances are high that someone here already did the upgrade recently and might share some tips even before I finish reading through the docs :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Requesting confirmation whether this upgrade procedure is still valid and nothing has changed in the meantime:

Planning to use it to upgrade from Nextcloud 30 (Hub 9) to Nextcloud 31 (Hub 10) within AIO.
Don’t want to risk running an outdated procedure if the officially recommended approach has changed since then.

I updated AIO from 30 to 31 without issues just a few weeks ago. Good luck!

Hi, see How to update to Nextcloud Hub 10 now? · nextcloud/all-in-one · Discussion #6053 · GitHub

The upgrade from Nextcloud 30 (Hub 9) to Nextcloud 31 (Hub 10) via AIO went through successfully.
However, I ran into an issue with the Whiteboard app after the upgrade — the error I described here:
:backhand_index_pointing_right: https://github.com/nextcloud/whiteboard/issues/488

Which is unfortunate, because I do actively use Whiteboard.
I don’t want to go off-topic here, so I’ll leave it at that — the issue is now tracked on GitHub.

Is Whiteboard running on port 3002, for example? Are the correct apps activated? Is the reverse proxy configured correctly? You should check all of this and write it in your issue.
