Nextcloud 22.2.3 and Thunderbird 91.3.2 - autodiscovery for caldav calendars

Hi

Thunderbird 91.3.2
Nextcloud 22.2.3
Nextcloud internal Calendar app 3.0

I’ve been trying to figure out how Thunderbird wizard with auto-discovery works with calendars. I asked about this mechanism on Thunderbird forum but without answer.
Maybe You guys have an answer.
Does it work ? What kind of solutions it needs ? Some dns records to search for caldav calendars published on nextcloud ?

I would appreciate any help pointing me to this topic
Regards.

Hi,

Did you ever figure this out ? I have the same issue, completely unable to add my calendars in thunderbird with the latest versions

Nope, still don’t know how this mechanism works.

I have come across this: Thunderbird:Autoconfiguration:ConfigFileFormat - MozillaWiki
but it’s been still as “Not yet implemented.” in parts i’m interested in.

Hi @bravo & @Ulrar

AFAIK autodiscovery does not work out of the box with Thunderbird. I would recommend using the following two addons in order to add your Nextcloud calendar and contacts to Thunderbird:

https://addons.thunderbird.net/de/thunderbird/addon/tbsync/?src=search

https://addons.thunderbird.net/de/thunderbird/addon/dav-4-tbsync/?src=search

This is also the recommended method according to the Nextcloud User manual:

https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/stable/user_manual/en/groupware/sync_thunderbird.html

Yep I know that, now its only way to make it work , but this solution involves to much effort to implement to multiple users.

After struggling with it for a long time (with great frustration) I just discovered that it works but only with http instead of https.
At leas on my ubuntu and thunderbird 102.10.0 (64 bit).

HTH
