New to Nextcloud, question about chat

I’ve setup a Nextcloud server on-prem running version 30.0.1. Our primary reason for doing this currently is on-prem chat. We’re trying to work out some issues on notifications for chat. I’ve noticed that there is a “nextcloud desktop” client, running version 3.14.1, and a “talk-desktop” app available that is version v0.39.0 - Talk v20.0.1".

Are these meant to be one or the other type applications? I know one does the sync and everything, but I wasn’t sure if one was a much better chat client than the other.

Which should I be using?

For chat, you only need Nextcloud Talk desktop app. You do not need sync app.

Nextcloud Talk desktop is in preview right now.
