ND desktop client (windows) do not connect over a proxy...

This topic has already been discussed, but I can’t find the link… and in any case, the solution is no longer valid.
After the latest update, the client won’t connect to the server because the proxy requires authentication. This has happened before, and the solution suggested downloading the latest daily version and saying the problem would be fixed with the next update. Well… that wasn’t the case… with every update, the problem recurs. Do you have a permanent solution? Thanks.

Without knowing about this specific problem or related issues on GitHub or in threads here in the forum, here are a few general tips on how to handle such situations:

  1. If there is a reproducible problem with the client and an error in your own infrastructure can be ruled out, you should open a GitHub issue if one does not already exist.

  2. If a workaround is suggested that involves installing a specific version of the client, you should stay on that version until the issue is resolved. This is particularly important for daily builds, as regressions are more likely to be introduced with each build. Once the issue has been fixed, you should then update to a stable release version that includes the fix.

  3. If the problem suddenly reappears with a later stable version or has not been adequately resolved in the version that supposedly contains the fix, you should reopen the old issue or open a new issue. In this case, rolling back to a previously working version can be a temporary workaround.

Thank you for your kind reply.

Yes, the problem is reproducible on the client, and I can rule out a bug in my infrastructure.

I’ve already tried installing the same daily build, and it doesn’t work… how is it possible that a fix that worked in the daily build wasn’t included in the latest stable update?

As I wrote, I can’t find the old report…
How do I rollback to a previously working build?

Thanks.

I found this issue on GitHub: Bug: 3.17.0 Proxy Handling Broken · Issue #8602 · nextcloud/desktop · GitHub

Maybe this comment is of some help: https://github.com/nextcloud/desktop/issues/8602#issuecomment-3193131226

In case you’re already on 3.17.0, I’d just uninstall it and then re-install 3.16.6, or maybe better, 3.16.5 again. You can download older versions from here: Index of /desktop/releases/Windows
