Iām using myself both for my company and personnal needs NC since years with great success.
I was also offering NC hosting on my own servers (shared hosting) since years at some of my customers.
Due to multiple reasons, Iām stopping hosting services at end of year and now I discover that basically itās nearly impossible to move a NC to an other hoster.
All the ones so far I have contacted that are in Europe and with decent prices and options donāt accept transfer of NC, they just build a new instance for you and thatās it 
Some even worse offer to pass through a third-party to migrate datas
Someone found some proper hosting in Europe at decent price that accept import of existing NC instances ?

Itās not a Nextcloud hosting, just some regular servers that you need to maintain and 1To storage is only avalaible on the most expensive hosting: 900ā¬/month is just insane
what was the actual issue of migrating it - the hosters did not offer such full service, or they were actively restricting you from bringing your existing DB etc ?

Well the first discover is that 99% of hosters I contacted are only hosting brand new instances of NC and 90% of them is not a standard NC instance but one they customised
The only 2 I found that allows to bring in your existing NC instance have hosting for it limited at 1To
That is a major issue with NC that I never realised since more than ten years I use it as I was hosting these instances on my own shared hosting servers.
Let me get that straight:
You complain that NC can handle more than 1TB of storage? (refer to as āaā)
Or is the problem more related to: you have difficulties to find a hoster matching your own goals (more than 1 TB storage for little money)? (refer to as ābā)
In case of āaā - you should file an issue.
in case of ābā - thatās absolutely no problem of NC - the āfantastic toolā.

Well I have already migrated few instances on a shared hosting that is NC compatible and works perfect so far and move went very easily too !

No, you can get 1 TB for much less than 900 EUR / month at Hetzner. If maximum performance is not important, you can even connect a StorageBox via CIFS to a cloud server. This is available for 3,20 EUR per month for 1 TB with options to upgrade to higher capacities if needed:
I run this for a friend of mine and it works fine - small cloud server and 1 TB storage box mounted as drive for the Nextcloud data folder. This way I could migrate an existing instance.
And if you use a full-blown cloud server with dedicated storage, this will be more expensive, but not 900 EUR per month.
But I agree - it would help if there was an app to migrate existing instances using some kind of export/import of the database, so you easily transfer user accounts and app data like calendar, contacts etc..

Yeah I know itās possible, the problem is with an existing NC If you setup it from begin with an external storage itās all good but if you have to do it later, itās not possible unhappy
I would never use CIFS for storage on a server, itās so bad protocol 
Not sure how it would help ?? export/import a mysql database is very straightforward and transfer all files of a webserver too What would be very useful is a tool that would allow to migrate a local data folder of an NC instance to an external storage like S3 or OpenStack object storage
Well itās possible but only if itās done when the NC is initially setup, not possible on an existing NC instance as itāll just show up as an additional storage in HA 
You only have to change the root mount point in the shares table of Nextcloud. And CIFS works way better than NFS in this specific environment. I did this multiple times and know what I am talking about. If you need help with that, let me know. I am not available until Sunday evening, but from that time on I can assist if needed.
