Multiple Dashboard widgets stuck in infinite loading loop (Hub 25 / 32.0.6 / AIO 12.7.0)

Environment:

  • Nextcloud Hub 25 Autumn

  • Nextcloud version: 32.0.6

  • Nextcloud AIO: 12.7.0 stable
(Issue was also present in 12.7.0 Beta)

  • Deployment: Docker via Nextcloud AIO

Problem description:

Several Dashboard widgets no longer load and remain in an infinite loading loop.

They do not show any error message — just continuous spinner animation.

Affected widgets:

  • Upcoming tasks

  • Recommended files

  • Recent bookmarks

  • Frequent bookmarks

  • Teams

  • Cards due today

  • Cards due tomorrow

  • Upcoming cards

  • On this day

  • Polls

  • Notes

Other parts of the system appear to function normally.

What I already tested:

  • Recreated Nextcloud AIO containers

  • Full server restart

  • Tested both stable and beta AIO (12.7.0)

  • No configuration changes were made before the issue appeared

None of the above resolved the issue.

Observed behavior:

Widgets remain loading indefinitely.
No visible error in the UI or admin settings log.

@vawaver thank you for this post.
confirming the issue also on other installs such as snap install see Nextcloud is broken and upgrade fails after new version arrived today due to bookmarks app failed upgrade. · Issue #3384 · nextcloud-snap/nextcloud-snap · GitHub and includes issues with the notes widget. bookmarks and libresign are also effected.

to be clear, the bookmarks and libresign issues are resolved.

what are you talking about? also in this thread.

the widget loading issue remains with version 16.1.2.

Just found theses posts after Tasks and Dashlink weren’t loading since yesterday. I was gonna disable Bookmarks, but saw an update to 16.1.2 16.1.3 available and it made my issue to away.

:partying_face::+1:t3:

Update / Additional observation:

I left the Dashboard open for several hours (since the morning) without interacting with it.

During that time, the affected widgets continued to show the loading spinner. However, after several hours, they eventually all loaded successfully on their own.

After refreshing the page, all widgets loaded instantly and behaved normally.

So something clearly completed in the background after a prolonged period of time. There was no visible indication in the UI that any recalculation, reindexing, or cache rebuild was running.

This does not look like a permanent failure, but rather like a very long initialization or background process affecting multiple Dashboard widgets simultaneously.

If there is a known background job or post-update migration that could cause this behavior in 32.0.6 / Hub 25, that might explain it.

EDIT: Problem solved on both machines since yesterday. Either the docker-container has been updated or the weekly App-Update did the thing :person_shrugging:

~~ Can confirm that with the same environment on two installations on separate machines. ~~
