Migrating 40+ users from Dropbox to Nextcloud on-premises resulting in many duplicate folders (Resolve conflict button)

I’m trying to migrate an organization with 40+ users from Dropbox to Nextcloud using the Dropbox integration API.

When I use the “Import Dropbox files” button under the migration option in the settings, it completes successfully. However, when I start syncing on a Windows 11 PC, I encounter sync issues due to duplicate folders created by Nextcloud.

It seems that Nextcloud sometimes creates two copies of the same folder hierarchy, renaming one in uppercase and the other in lowercase, and splits the contents between these duplicates.

This is causing issues when trying to match data between Dropbox and Nextcloud, thus hindering the migration process.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to resolve it?

Regards,

Do you sync folder with the Nextcloud client that were synced with the dropbox client before?

As far as I understood, the import itself has worked, at least I didn’t find any issue on the bug tracker:

and the problem appears just when the desktop client is involved?
