I use NextCloud to keep files on my MacBook and iMac synchronous. Since one of the latest updates of the macOS desktop client I noticed the information message “The folder xxx is linked to multiple accounts”. It only occurs with 3 folders. All others (~10) get synced without any messages.
Can someone please explain me what this exactly means and how to avoid it? I have only one account defined in my desktop clients.
I found some hidden files with names like .sync_some_hex_digits.db in the corresponding folders that were unused.
On my MacBook I deleted them and the message disappeared. Looks like they are fragments from older syncs with another NC server that doesn’t exist any more. NC should display more exact information in such a case.
On my iMac i deleted them as well, but the message disappeared only for those folders that showed the message on my MacBook, too. With the other folders it didn’t help at all.
All files and folders are synced without problem. The message still occurs with 2 folders that do not have these outdated files.
I just did. It shows exactly the same result as the finder.
Strange: I was waiting for a few seconds an suddenly another outdated file _sync_some_hex_digits.db appeared (note the underline at the beginning of the file name). The same happened on the other folder. Deleting them both made the messages disappear.
To me it looks like these files have been saved on NC and were now restored on my iMac. But why didn’t they appear a few hours ago?
