MariaDB version "10.1.47-MariaDB-0ubuntu0.18.04.1" is used. Nextcloud 21 will no longer support this version and requires MariaDB 10.2 or higher

Nextcloud version (eg, 20.0.5): 20.0.7
Operating system and version (eg, Ubuntu 20.04): 18.04
Apache or nginx version (eg, Apache 2.4.25): 2.4.29
PHP version (eg, 7.4): 7.3.21

The issue you are facing:

Getting this error message after upgrading from 19.0.8 to 20.0.7.
MariaDB version “10.1.47-MariaDB-0ubuntu0.18.04.1” is used. Nextcloud 21 will no longer support this version and requires MariaDB 10.2 or higher.

Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Y/N): Y

Steps to replicate it:

  1. Just upgraded from 19.0.8 to 20.0.7 and got this message in the overview page.
  2. MariaDB version “10.1.47-MariaDB-0ubuntu0.18.04.1” is used. Nextcloud 21 will no longer support this version and requires MariaDB 10.2 or higher.

I’m just wondering what the best steps for upgrading to a support versions of MariaDB are.

Here are the instructions from the MariaDB website…

…and don’t forget to backup your existing database

Hope that helps.
