Which general topic do you have
Hi guys,
I’m digitizing lots of my recent documents. Just regular private docs and files.
My process is this: scan a piece of paper, save and name it, put into Nextcloud via Windows client, done.
Just an amateurish usage of a “document management system” for me and my family.
I was wondering, if there’s a better and more efficient way do the job.
I don’t need fancy stuff like scan to Nextcloud, or automated file improvement.
Something like OCR and (auto) tagging the files after they were uploaded might be nice.
(“Bank” files where the keyword bank was recognized get a bank tag, “insurance” → insurance tag etc.)
Any experiences you guys have so far?
Basically this only applies to scanned files. Some that I get via email have regular embedded text so you can actually also search for those in the Windows explorer.
Hi, here’s a video on the topic. It’s a few years old and in German. But basically, it’s about the software Paperless NGX. That should be exactly what you’re looking for. I can’t tell you if there are complete tools for it directly in Nextcloud. But maybe it will help you.
Hi, thanks. I do know about the software and I did look into a whole bunch of them. On Github there’s a good list for various tools including DMS.
But that’s not what I’m looking for. I managed to setup Docker Desktop and PNGX with it. But I don’t want to handle these command based tools. It’s way above my skills for a day to day basis and for some personal docs.
Windows (Explorer) and Nextcloud are perfectly fine. I’m just looking for a better way to handle this mix. Nextcloud has so many tools to sign, convert or comment docs/PDFs.
So I was wondering what tools may have OCR and/or tagging included as I cannot find them.
