Mac desktop client does not consistently preserve file creation dates

Nextcloud version: 23.0.0 (server); 3.4.1 (desktop)
Operating system and version: Debian 10.11 (server); macOS 12.1 (desktop)
Apache or nginx version: Apache 2.4.38
PHP version: 8.0.14

The issue you are facing:

In the process of moving to a new server and Nextcloud install, I noticed that many of the file creation timestamps for my files are not being preserved on the server side. The timestamps are correct when viewed in Finder, but the web app displays the upload date as the file creation date. Only a portion of files are impacted, and the selection seems to change with each re-upload of the same directories. If I upload the same files via the web app, the timestamps are processed correctly, but this isn’t feasible for the number of files that need to be corrected. The same files all sync properly and show the correct file creation dates on the old server (Nextcloud 22.2.3, PHP 7.4.26, same Debian and Apache).

Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Y/N): Y

Steps to replicate it:

  1. Set up new Nextcloud install with Nextcloud 23.0.0
  2. Log in with macOS client version 3.4.1
  3. Sync new or existing directory with multiple subdirectories and files
  4. Check file creation dates on web and compare to file creation dates on Mac

Thanks in advance for any guidance that you can provide!
