Login to nextcloud AIO suddenly stopped working

Hello,

I’m experiencing a weird issue since yesterday.

Basically, after running MacOS update (to version 27.2), I got kicked off from my nextcloud from all my devices.

The login page is still reachable but whenever I put my credentials in, it simply reloads the page again (with no errors being prompted).

I’m running Nextcloud AIO v14.4.2 and all my containers are up-to-date according to the AIO management page.

I noticed that now the Apache container comes with an integrated Caddy reverse proxy but I have always being an external caddy instance running on another container.

Could this interfere with the embedded one?

I know I should be providing some additional logs for an effective troubleshooting but I need some guidance on that cause I don’t know exactly where to find them.

Here is the way I start the container:

sudo docker run
–init
–sig-proxy=false
–name nextcloud-aio-mastercontainer
–restart always
–publish 8080:8080
–env APACHE_PORT=11000
–env APACHE_IP_BINDING=0.0.0.0
–env APACHE_ADDITIONAL_NETWORK=caddy_default
–env SKIP_DOMAIN_VALIDATION=false
–volume nextcloud_aio_mastercontainer:/mnt/docker-aio-config
–volume /var/run/docker.sock.raw:/var/run/docker.sock:ro
nextcloud/all-in-one:latest

Looking at the nextcloud.log file (the only one I was able to find so far), I see some redis issues:

nextcloud-aio-redis failed: Name does not resolve at /var/www/html/lib/private/Session/Internal.php

I really appreciate your help.

Regards,

James

SOLVED

I’ve had some extra time to look at the issue myself and finally I found a solution.

The login loop had nothing to do with the Redis configuration, rather it was related to some changes Nextcloud applied to the .htaccess file.

To gain back the login via browser I had to add to the .htaccess the ReWriteEngine On directive.

That fixed the access via browser and removed the login loop but it was not enough cause all external clients (e.g. Davx, Nextcloud Desktop, etc) were still failing to authenticate.

To solve this issue, I had to add to the same .htaccess file also the RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization}]

Now everything seems fine.

James
