Local files cannot be deleted error

Dear friends,

working with NextCloud 3 months and I am very satisfied. However since about week ago I started to receive error message “Temporary error when removing local item removed from server.” I.e. when I upload file to Windows Client “A” and tries to delete that file from Windows Client “B”, file is deleted at B client and A client gives the error.

Can you please advice which information you need from me to help me resolve this issue?

Many thanks and greetings

Vlado

I think its related to ** [Bug]: Files are not automatically deleted when deleted through webUI, notifying about error #8192**

"I understand that this behavior may not strictly follow the intended client-server model, where each client is expected to act as a passive consumer of the server’s state, rather than operating in a more collaborative or parallel way. In most designs, the server acts as the authoritative source of truth, and clients merely sync changes from or to it in isolation. However, in my environment, I’ve been using a more dynamic workflow where multiple clients interact with the same files in near real time — essentially behaving like a parallel set of endpoints with alternating read/write responsibilities.

While this may not be the default design philosophy, this setup worked quite well in practice for several months. Uploads from one client, followed by deletions or modifications from another, would synchronize cleanly across all devices. That’s why the recent emergence of errors like ‘Temporary error when removing local item removed from server’ is both unexpected and disruptive. It suggests that something has changed either in sync behavior or in how conflict resolution is handled across clients when actions happen nearly simultaneously.

Hi, i have the same problem. It started with 3.16.3 client windows version… could you solved it please? else, someone can help us? Thanks in advance!

I guess we’ll have to wait for version 3.16.4 to be released or downgrade to version 3.16.2

Hi, the next version will be 3.17.X according to the developers. To downgrade to 3.16.2, you can both download it:

Indeed it seems to be problem of latest version, I did preliminary check and it seems that previous version is working OK

How to rollback to 3.16.2 version? Simply download and install over 3.16.3 or need I to unistall 3.16.3 version before, or disconnect my account before? What about files? I have 870GB. It will need to resyncronize? And shared folders with other users, need I to re-shared again?
Sorry, I know i have got a lot of question, and probably for almost of you will be stupid question, but for me are elemental… please, can someone help me? again thanks in advance!!

Just install 3.16.2, the installer will do all necessary steps overwriting existing binaries without the need to re-sync data.

Ok. Thank you so much. I will do tomorrow. I hope it has not to resincronize all data again because my connection os not so fast and it would be several days (maybe weeks) to do it… REALLY, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Yeaaahhh!! It has worked!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Really, many thanks!!! Now with 3.16.2 version, all come back to works fine!!
