Getting help

In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.

Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:

(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).

Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can.

The Basics

  • Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x):
    • 34.0.2~ynh1
  • Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04):
    • Debian bookworm
  • Web server and version (e.g, Apache 2.4.25):
  • Reverse proxy and version _(e.g. nginx 1.27.2)
    • nginx V?
  • PHP version (e.g, 8.3):
    • php8.4-fpm
  • Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):
    • Yes
  • When did this problem seem to first start?
    • inst. client first on Mint
  • Installation method (e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)
    • Application Management
  • Are you using CloudfIare, mod_security, or similar? (Yes / No)
    • No

Summary of the issue you are facing:

Downloaded the apt to Mint 22.3
Started inside the Application management (with Button Start)

Got: "Secure connection to http://x failed. No certificate…

Restarted: Same situation.

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

  1. no idea… (Linux newbi)

  2. all other clients (Windows or Android clients) are working since months.

No Log entries

Nextcloud

Please provide the log entries from your Nextcloud log that are generated during the time of problem (via the Copy raw option from Administration settings->Logging screen or from your nextcloud.log located in your data directory). Feel free to use a pastebin/gist service if necessary.

PASTE HERE

Web Browser

If the problem is related to the Web interface, open your browser inspector Console and Network tabs while refreshing (reloading) and reproducing the problem. Provide any relevant output/errors here that appear.

PASTE

Web server / Reverse Proxy

The output of your Apache/nginx/system log in /var/log/____:

nothing

Configuration

Nextcloud

The output of occ config:list system or similar is best, but, if not possible, the contents of your config.php file from /path/to/nextcloud is fine (make sure to remove any identifiable information!):

not yet exists

Apps

The output of occ app:list (if possible).

Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response

  • Use the preformatted text formatting option in the editor for all log entries and configuration output.
  • If screenshots are useful, feel free to include them.
    • If possible, also include key error output in text form so it can be searched for.
  • Try to edit log output only minimally (if at all) so that it can be ran through analyzers / formatters by those trying to help you.

So to grasp the issue can you confirm if I understand the subject.
Your other clients have no problem going through the nginix and connecting to the nextcloud but your linux client does ? and reports a http://x failed. No certificate error ?

Does the linux client connect to the web interface of nextcloud with the browser ? Or is this only for your linux client installation ?

One question: do you have a valid certificate installed?
If yes you should address your server by using https://
If no I’m afraid there’s no way to use the clients in a safe way.

I saw that you’re using yunohost. Since this platform is doing some things pretty different from common Linux you should address problems arising from using yunohost install to their community rather than here. Not because we don’t want to help but because their community knows better how to deal with yunohost-problems.

ad Post of Captain86:

Yes, my other Clients (two mobile/GrapheneOS, four Windows 10/11) have been connected since months and do so actually.

Sorry for my fault: Of course I trigger the connection with httpS !
And sorry, that I not postet a screenshot, the form took a long time for me enough.

The client needs no browser, its a stand alone app named “Nextcloud Desktop Client” apt.

ad Post of JimmyKater:

No, I hav’nt yet installed any certificate.

If I am advised to post better in the yunohost forum, I will change there.
In this case, let me know to do so definitely.

you’ll need one to run the client.

Hi @allall

I finally had time to solve the prob. and answer here.

Sorry for inconvenience, was my fault! Struck with blindness.

I permanently targeted the NC subfolder on my webserver wrong.

https://yournamehere.nohost.me instead of

https://yournamehere.nohost.me/nextcloud

So the topic is to close.

Adios, see you next time / fault.
