LAN only Nextcloud

Hi, I’ve recently setup my own Freenas box, I’m still trying to get my head around it, so I apologise in adavance if this question is silly.

I’ve setup Nextcloud on it, but I would like to use it in a LAN only configuration. I haven’t forwarded any ports from my router, so if I understand it correctly it can’t be accessed from outside my network. Is this correct? Or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, that’s the case. As long, as you haven’t forwarded any port on your internet router into your local network, your NC remains unavailable from the internet.

Normally it should be enough. With ipv6 it could be different. You can set in your apache/nginx config that it only responds to local ips. (you could disable all outgoing connections on your server, however this would also prevent updates, which is not very handy either).

Thanks for your help guys :grinning:! Will look into setting apache to only respond to local IPs.
