Great work with Nextcloud!!
I share historical images with different people, not nextcloud users with an account.
Several people clould give comments to every shared image or images in folders.
But there is no sidebar showing up or i do not have the option as one that was shared a folder or image to give a comment or see the sidebar.
(i do not mean nextcloud users with an account)
How can i those folk share comments or infos to the historical images?
Afterwards i want to edit the infos and get them into the exif or iptc section of the jpg image.
Is there a tool in nextcloud to do such a job?
Actually there is not function to add comment withoung having an account.
Why not giving the people an account?
Be aware of the spam bots coming to your site when public commenting is possible.
Happened in the old good times everybody had a blog.

To give all those people an account is no good.
Most people don’t want to register and have an additional account for only to give a comment.
I share folders with images and have at least a simple password so bots are no threat.
Images without metadata, especially old images are nice to look at but say and mean nothing to anyone. With dates and events and peoples names in the images given through a comment an image rises to a story.
There are several wordpress galleries that have the ability to gather comments. But i would rather stick with nextcloud…
Just i saw that you can give permission to edit images to the folder you share publically (shared with a link you post)
Perhaps it could be made possible to have an other option like comment.
So:
Custom permissions
- read
- create
- edit
- delete
and comment
Nothing more like a note from the notes app that lies next to the image with the permission of the image.
When you open an image you get top left 4 Buttons: play, pencil, …, X
For comments just add a comment button.
When it is pressed a note with the imagefilename is created with the rights of the image.
Everyone with access to the image or folder should be able to edit the note.
For an old foto a comment could be:
Seams to be a wedding in 1936.
Tante Berta from Schmechten is married to Fred.
In the frontrow third from the right could be my father.
