Getting help

In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.

Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:

(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).

Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can.

The Basics

  • Nextcloud Server version: 4.0.1
    • 4.0.1
  • Operating system and version:
    • Windows 11 Education, 23H2
  • Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):
    • Yes
  • When did this problem seem to first start?
    • I was recently invited to shared group folders. These folders were very large. So, I tried to disconnect from single group folders within the online version of Nextcloud.
  • Installation method (e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)
    • n.a.
  • Are you using CloudfIare, mod_security, or similar? (Yes / No)
    • No

Summary of the issue you are facing:

  • I am using virtual file link for my synchronization. I was recently invited to shared group folders. These folders were very large. So, I tried to disconnect from single group folders within the online version of Nextcloud. It did not work out: I could still see the group folders in my synchronized folders on my harddisk (via Windows Explorer). So, I tried to delete these synchronized folders manually in Windows Explorer (logged in as admin), but did not succeed. It states "Zugriff verweigert" (access restricted). I tried to get help from my corporate IT admin, but even he could not achieve a successful deletion.

Is the Nextcloud Desktop software still runnung, while yo were trying to delete the foder? - Maybe it blocks removing while it is running.
On the other hand: If deleting files in the groupfolder is forbidden, the shortcuts may have the same permissions and will be removed, after the files in the groupfolder have been deleted.

btw: Nextcloud 4.0.1 seems not to be the correct version for the server, even the Nextcloud server is running on a Windows workstation computer.
