Summary of the issue you are facing:

After a successful upgrade from version 30.0.8, it is not possible to upgrade to version 31.0.12. The problem is both with the web update and with the command line update.

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!)

At startup, all the update steps are immediately marked as completed:

sudo -u www-data php updater/updater.phar
Nextcloud Updater - version: v31.0.11-1-g6277d99 dirty

Current version is 31.0.12.

Update to Nextcloud 32.0.3 available. (channel: “stable”)
Following file will be downloaded automatically: https://github.com/nextcloud-releases/server/releases/download/v32.0.3/nextcloud-32.0.3.zip
Open changelog :up_right_arrow:

Steps that will be executed:
[:check_mark:] Check for expected files
[:check_mark:] Check for write permissions
[:check_mark:] Create backup
[:check_mark:] Downloading
[:check_mark:] Verify integrity
[:check_mark:] Extracting
[:check_mark:] Enable maintenance mode
[:check_mark:] Replace entry points
[:check_mark:] Delete old files
[:check_mark:] Move new files in place
[:check_mark:] Done

Continue update? [y/N]

Clearly, something “stuck” somewhere during the last update.

How to solve this problem?

You can run occ maintenance:repair which will clear out the stale Update step state file. Then rerun

If you want to try to determine why it happened, you can review the dedicated updater.log.

Thanks, it helped. :folded_hands:
