Getting help

In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.

Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:

(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).

Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can.

The Basics

  • Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x):
    • 31
  • Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04):
    • docker
  • Web server and version (e.g, Apache 2.4.25):
    • replace me
  • Reverse proxy and version _(e.g. nginx 1.27.2)
    • replace me
  • PHP version (e.g, 8.3):
    • replace me
  • Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):
    • replace me
  • When did this problem seem to first start?
    • replace me
  • Installation method (e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)
    • docker
  • Are you using CloudfIare, mod_security, or similar? (Yes / No)
    • replace me

Summary of the issue you are facing:

Photos app is so strange to configure when one wants to add external source folders. Their UI does not seem to see a folder I mapped from outside the container e.g. /var/www/html/data/myUser/files/Photos/External

I need to create in their UI and then I see it and can import the media. Tried to do the same with another external folder bound under /files/Photos/NewMedia but I see 404 errors in the photo viewer app - although it picks up the correct names of the files from that new folder.

How can I import multiple folders ?

With such a big lack of information noone will be able to help you.

  • what Photo-App?
  • what OS?

Default Photos app. Docker image.

So you do use GIMP? GIMP is the default Photos app on my Linux-Notebook with xfce-Desktop. But other Linux-Distros with other Desktops may use a different Image Manipulation Program.

Hopefully, you realize that you have to be clear in describing what you are using and what problem you are dealing with.

Sorry for the lacking response. I realized in the end that for external storage I needed to use a nextcloud “plugin” taht allows me to specify external folders, like webdav. End up using that.
