Is it possible to retrieve the backup encryption password

Hello,

I installed Nextcloud AIO on docker and I made a backup before upgrading my PC, but Iā€™ve lost my backupā€™s encryption password, and iā€™ve got all my files on my external HDD.

I know Iā€™m supposed to use the password to decipher files, but I really need to get back my files.

Is there any solution to retrieve the password or use the backup without it ?

Hi, do you still have the old drive of the old server available somewhere or did you already reformat it?

Hi, I have the same problem. Only in my case, I thought I had the proper encryption password for backups along with the proper AIO passphrase. Today I learned the passphrase was wrong (I recovered it) and now I am thinking the borg backup password I have documented is wrong also.
I didnt have to format or reinstall anything. My NC is still running. So how can I recover the encryption password for backups?

Unfortunately, i have formatted the old disk, i have tried to recover the partition with testdisk, but iā€™m not sure how it works. I keep trying.
