An early partnership!

We started with using Owncloud a long time ago. We watched the fork of Nextcloud closely and after some time we were convinced, that Nextcloud would be the better option.

At hosting.de they were very satisfied with Nextcloud, and their customers were too!
Because of that, they started thinking about how they could offer Nextcloud on a large scale and became official partners very early. Of course, taking away also the small steps, like installing updates and maintaining servers for their customers, to make their Nextcloud experience as pleasant as possible.

The main challenge that the hosting.de team faced was getting Nextcloud ready for mass deployment. Originally Nextcloud was developed to run one installation on one server. But then hosting.de needed to run multiple Nextclouds on one server.

We addressed some hurdles we came across when preparing the software for mass deployment. With the help of the excellent Nextcloud support team, we managed to get our Managed Nextclouds running flawlessly in a short amount of time.

Does someone have any previous experience with hosting.de?
Their €4.99 with 500GB of storage is a huge deal, almost too good to be true.

I’ve the same question.
Most of the times, hosting is reasonably priced, but when storage needs are higher (eg. 10 years of family pictures of around 80GB) it gets very expensive.
That is why I started to selfhost Nextcloud (with the excellent NextcloudPI image!). It was a joyfull ride, I learned a lot, but sometimes it takes time to manage everything.

The offer of hosting.de is tempting.

You can watch a video in german if you like. I think you can also use first the free account and then upgrade to a paid version. In this video you can see that you manage your 10 users outside Nextcloud. But you can define your own subdomain. Also you can not install any app. You must use the predefined apps (minute 8:30). But that must not be a problem. It is perhaps the reason because it is not too expensive and it could easy upgraded for all instances. I think it is a nice concept.

Although they have 55000 customers ‘all over the world’ it seems (when I try to create an account) that I must have a telephone number from within a fairly small set of international prefixes. Without checking, I think they’re all European prefixes.
