Getting help

In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.

Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:

(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).

Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can. :heart:

The Basics

  • Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x):
    • 31.0.2
  • Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04):
    • Unraid 7.0
  • Web server and version (e.g, Apache 2.4.25):
    • replace me
  • Reverse proxy and version _(e.g. nginx 1.27.2)
    • replace me
  • PHP version (e.g, 8.3):
    • replace me
  • Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):
    • Yes
  • When did this problem seem to first start?
    • After I updated the docker container
  • Installation method (e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)
    • I used the linuxserver.io docker image - https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-nextcloud/pkgs/container/nextcloud
  • Are you using CloudfIare, mod_security, or similar? (Yes / No)
    • Yes using cloudflare reverse proxy. However even local access is blocked

Summary of the issue you are facing:

When I try to login, I get an “Internal Server Error”

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

  1. Login with normal credentials
  2. Login is successful and then the error
  3. Refreshing doesn’t resolve the issue

Log entries

Nextcloud

Please provide the log entries from your Nextcloud log that are generated during the time of problem (via the Copy raw option from Administration settings->Logging screen or from your nextcloud.log located in your data directory). Feel free to use a pastebin/gist service if necessary.

Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response

  • Use the preformatted text formatting option in the editor for all log entries and configuration output.
  • If screenshots are useful, feel free to include them.
    • If possible, also include key error output in text form so it can be searched for.
  • Try to edit log output only minimally (if at all) so that it can be ran through analyzers / formatters by those trying to help you.

"loglevel": 0,

At the moment your log is too cluttered with debug logs. Please reset this to the default (2) then try to log-in. Likely the indication will be an incompatible app or something similar. If so, probably one of these since it looks like you have them force enable so compatible checks are ignored for them:

        "app_install_overwrite": [
            "secrets",
            "side_menu",
            "checksum",
            "files_archive",
            "carnet"
        ],

Hi @jtr,

Thank you for providing me with a start to my investigation.

Since I can’t access the UI, how can I change the log level from the command line?

Furthermore I don’t mind placing these apps back into check compatibility mode. How do I do that via the command line? Or at the very least how do I remove them via the terminal?

Used the command sudo docker exec -it nextcloud occ app:disable NAME_OF_APP to disable an app.

It turned out to be the app secrets causing the issues.

@jtr Do you know how I can set back those apps to be tested every version upgrade? I don’t want any app running that is not verified
